TEST(I)GO

INFORMATION

This play originates from the emblematic painting of the north american artist Edward Hopper, “Woman in the sun”. It is from a moment stopped in time that we can witness our own life experience. We have full control of every detail, every intention, of every thought. Everything is true and a lie at the same time; we stand still, floating inside the status quo, wishing that our next movement was the decision of others and not ours.

In the painting “A woman in the sun”, a woman is located in front of a window where the light of the sun shines through. “We see a woman that appears to contemplate her life from the outside. There is silence in the air and we can imagine a previous story. That’s why the play has this name: Test, as in a test, to test life, and Testigo (witness), to be the spectator of life, of our own life.”

Test(i)go re-evaluates the practice of living, of observing life, of listening, remembering, of failing, of wanting to comprehend, of being selfish, loving, the practice of witnessing our own experience of life, being spectators of our own survival.

The play has a duration of 55 minutes and is composed of 14 scenes that have no temporal continuity but are connected by choreography and its structure.

This play was premiered in 2014 along with the cast of CEPRODAC at Teatro de la Ciudad, DF, Mexico.

Furthermore, Catania performed another version, “Test(i)go fuera” for Escuela ENDC as a graduation project.
