TRAVEL BLIND

Tavel Blind is a work that has developed gradually over the last 5 years, since my father's death, and has gone through various stages of surrendering and questioning whether the loss is something to share or not.

When your eyes are lightless and your feet are heavy, who can you trust and how do you move? Is a performance space the right environment to be extremely transparent?

Inspired by Leonard Cohen’s famous metaphor of the same name, “Travel Blind” is a work that will challenge our expectations of ourselves, set against the backdrop of a heartbreaking loss and the obstacles we foolishly build in our own path to healing. This work is performed by Andrea Catania and co-directed by Alex Catona and Andrea Catania.

Fail together Fail better, as Beckett said. Perhaps it is within this fragile union that meaning is found.

This piece was premiered at Camp-In, San Luis Potosí, Mexico in 2019, and has also been performed on Galiano Island, Canada, at the Dance Center, Vancouver, Canada, Teatro Victoria, Tenerife, Spain, and at the Cuerpos Escénicos Festival in Garachico, Tenerife.
